Building Agricultural Partnerships: Siaya County Visits Kakuzi Limited
In a bid to strengthen agricultural productivity and open new markets for local farmers, Governor James Orengo led a delegation from Siaya County on a visit to Kakuzi Limited in Murang’a.
The delegation held fruitful discussions with Kakuzi’s Managing Director, Mr. Chris Flowers, and his team, focusing on opportunities for collaboration in agribusiness and value chain development.
As part of the visit, the Siaya team toured Kakuzi’s expansive farm, including the company’s world-class avocado orchards, which are a benchmark for quality, scale, and export standards.
Key Outcomes of the Visit
One of the most significant outcomes was the agreement on technical assistance for Siaya’s avocado farmers. This partnership aims to boost both productivity and quality, ensuring that local farmers are better positioned to compete in regional and international markets.
Governor Orengo welcomed the partnership, emphasizing that knowledge transfer and industry linkages are critical to transforming Siaya’s agricultural landscape, uplifting farmers, and creating sustainable livelihoods.
Looking Ahead: SITICO 2025
Adding to the momentum, Kakuzi has confirmed its participation in the upcoming Siaya International Trade and Investment Conference (SITICO), which will take place from 14th to 17th October 2025 at the Siaya National Polytechnic. Their involvement underscores the conference’s role as a hub for connecting investors, industry leaders, and local enterprises.
This collaboration marks an exciting step forward in positioning Siaya as a competitive agricultural hub, with avocados at the center of its journey toward transformative trade and investment.
