The County is situated in the Western part of Kenya within Nyanza region. It lies between latitude 0º 26´ South to 0º 18´ North and longitude 33º 58´ and 34º 33´East. Siaya County neighbours Vihiga and Kakamega Counties to the North-East, Kisumu County to the South-East, Busia County to the Northwest and Homabay County across the Winam Gulf to the South. It has a land surface area of approximately 2,530 km² and water surface area of approximately 1,005 km2.
